It was one year ago this month. My first holidays without my Mamaw and uncle Ken. Little did I know that 2025 would be a rough year. Appendicitis in January, lung infection in May, a diverticulitis attack in September, with a micro-perforation. Then another in late October, thankfully with no perforations. Allergic reactions to medicines. A return trip to the hospital was met with the threat of being admitted. The health challenges continued to mount up. Worst of all was the threat of facing a major surgery.
I remember what a doctor once told me: “Jamison, most of your health problems will go away if you would just eat right.” I didn’t listen. But it wasn’t too late.

I remember another voice that spoke to me. When my attack hit in September, I heard the Lord say: “I will help you.” Leas than two months later I was back in the ER for a total of 3 times. I told the Lord, “If you’re going to do something, you need to do it.” I was telling God we were running out of time. In that hospital room, He spoke again: “Did not I tell you I would help you?” This time, He was reminding me: I am the God Who never breaks My promises.

Shortly after, the doctor walked in with a completely changed tune: “I’m confident we can let you go home.” A follow-up trip to the surgeon revealed I have diverticulosis through my entire colon; a condition called pan-colonic diverticulosis. The news kept getting worse.Another voice: “For now, we are going to take out a section of your colon. It will be tricky.” Words no one ever wants to hear a surgeon say.
Surgery was scheduled. November 20th to be exact. It was only a little over a week away, and I found myself in the office of a new medical practice that was opening: two couples who love God and felt led to help people get healthy again. We met, and I told them my story. I will tell you their name in a moment.

It just so happened that the specialist, Melanie Jones, a doctor in pharmaceuticals from the University of Cincinnati, and a Christ follower, specializes in gut health. Her and Doctor Hendrixson’s words rang out: “We believe we can help you.”Remember that still small voice of the Holy Spirit? “I will help you.” Enter Bridge Street Health.

Bridge Street Health in Loveland is a practice started in 2025 to offer a comprehensive approach to healthcare, focusing on root causes of illnesses, not merely treating symptoms. In their own words, they “use lifestyle medicine approaches to optimize diet, manage stress, improve sleep and encourage movement in a way that promotes and sustains health, often without the need for prescription medication.” At their foundation is the belief “that the human body is a remarkable creation designed by God with an innate capacity to function and heal when supported with care, intention and wisdom.”

Several months later, with a 3-week gut reboot under my belt, down 40+ pounds, and a future shining bright with God’s glory, I’m reminded of this: of all the voices that speak into our lives, doctors, pastors, spouses, friends, or whoever’s voice that is influencing you, there is one that stands out above the rest.
For me, it was a voice promising help, and delivering on that promise. And that same voice offers help to you. Let 2026 be a year guided by the voice of the One Who sits on the throne… and Who has the final say.

“Did not I tell you I would help you?”

Yes Lord. Yes you did.
